Styling Kleek's Collective

In August 2023, Kleek Apprenticeships hosted an exciting Hair and Beauty Photographic Competition, which drew enthusiastic participation from apprentices across the Kleek community.

The Collective Collection

Entrants submitted photographs of their work to the Kleek Apprenticeship Facebook Forum, vying for an exclusive invitation to have their creations captured by a professional photographer and the honour of having their work featured in our new promotional campaign.

The competition attracted some outstanding entries from our apprentices and demonstrated a whole array of different styles and techniques in both hair and beauty disciplines. From impressive colour transformations to exquisite nail artistry, each submission reflected the dedication and creativity of our apprentices. The judging process, which tested the expert eyes of all the judges, was a testament to the exceptional quality of work presented and after thorough evaluation, five outstanding winners were chosen.

The Prize Winners' Special Day

All the winners were invited to visit the Kleek Academy Darlington to deliver a wide range of looks, under the supervision of our educators where they also received a winner’s certificate and a Kleek tote bag filled with professional tools and goodies.

The competition photoshoot took place in early October and the Kleek Academy was a hive of activity as everyone set up – models, apprentices, educators, photographers, videographer, make-up and nail artists and Kleek support staff.

Mandy McMullen who directed the shoot, was giving advice and guidance and set all the model teams on their creative way.  The apprentices gained valuable experience and insight of a photoshoot session, as they followed the results from start to finish, and joined the models in the studio with the professional photographer. The backstage preparation and transformations were also captured in film and image, and we’re thrilled with the resulting apprentice-styled images.

All the apprentices embraced this extra-curricular opportunity, asking questions and taking an active interest in all areas of their model’s transformations. The resulting images will be used in a wide variety of ways across digital and print and will be adorning the walls of our academies very soon too!

We hope you like the final images, and thank you and well done to everyone involved!
